“Ex-celebrities and wannabes get even with fame and fortune.”

The world thought they had gotten rid of them. A group of disgraced celebrities, clinging to the fading glory of their extravagant pasts, face humiliation after humiliation — until they unite to build a VIP entertainment company and try to resurrect themselves.

Characters

The Gang

  • Charlie Masso

A former member of Menudo, the legendary Latin boy band of the ’80s, and an entrepreneur and enthusiast who invites his has-been celebrity and wannabe friends to create the most important entertainment production company in the world. Secretly, he dreams of filling stadiums again and of duets with Elvis and Sinatra. When his wife questions their finances and his skills as a producer, he boasts about a supposed “bachelor’s degree in entertainment”.

  • Polly Smith

A millennial wannabe activist, beautiful and intelligent. Unaware of the eccentric gang she is about to meet, she joins the company posing as an air-headed secretary, seeing its potential to support social causes through massive events. Once her real self is revealed, everyone is won over by her integrity and charisma. She has a restraining order against her wealthy ex-boyfriend, who will do anything to get her back.

  • Paulo Quevedo

An action-movie and soap-opera actor who wants to reach the top of Hollywood. Engaged to a rich heiress, he has spent all his money keeping up a movie-star image and paying for the courtship until the wedding day. To hide a tormented reality and a complicated family history, he tells the stories of the characters he has played as if they were his own past.

  • Linda B.

An all-American sweetheart, famous and beautiful, typecast for more than twenty years in the role she played as a child. Frantic and frustrated, she takes every acting job that comes her way, usually in B movies. When she overhears that the gang will produce art films, she decides she must be part of it and, escaping her controlling manager mom, spends most of her time at the headquarters.

  • Benny Corral

A famous and successful music video director of the ’80s and ’90s now going through an economic crisis that has him taking any job under a pseudonym. He sneaks into film and television studios to interview top celebrities without them knowing they are being recorded, fixated on finding the “true formula for success”, the premise of his documentary masterpiece.

  • Nancy Guerrero

An attractive cougar, a mediocre TV host and a terrible actress, but great at public relations and brilliant at business. She rubs shoulders with Miami’s highest social circle and has been secretly obsessed with Charlie Masso since his Menudo days, determined to see him succeed again.

  • José Luis Franco

A classical theater and art-film actor, frustrated by the invasion of commercial series and cinema, who keeps trying, and failing, to produce artistic and cultural work. He refuses telenovelas and commercial projects, frequents coffeehouses and art galleries, and annoys everyone with his relentless pursuit of funding. He gets by thanks to a group of loyal older ladies: he walks their dogs, talks to them about theater and gives them hope of a future romance.

  • Fiyah Marshall

The rebel son of the president of Bermuda. He studied law and management against his will and sings hip-hop and reggae, always defying his father. A woman magnet but shy on stage, and a solutions finder: without telling his dad, or the guys, he lends the gang Bermuda’s cultural center as their first office. He admires Charlie’s singing career and Benny’s film pursuits.

  • Alex Ruiz

A radio announcer, owner of an internet radio station and Tex-Mex singer. Metrosexual but not truly handsome, he peppers everything he says with popular and religious sayings, which brings him no closer to being the sex symbol he has wanted to be since he was young. He spends all his money on his looks and on self-promotion.

Seasons

Four Seasons

  1. Deep in debt and fed up with being exploited by promoters and managers, Charlie Masso decides to test his abilities as a producer and convinces his bankrupt ex-celebrity friends to found a VIP entertainment production company. They try everything to raise money for their first big concert, from theme parties and fashion events to clowning at kids’ parties, street promotion for restaurants and even becoming YouTubers. Their first office, Bermuda’s cultural center, becomes a real mess as they have to hide everything whenever a diplomatic event takes place. They finally land a deal with a corrupt banker who will become their worst nightmare, and in the middle of the chaos they produce a massive rock concert that makes a lot of money, until the banker comes back to claim the fine print in their contract. Polly’s ex enters the scene.

  2. The new office sparks excitement and true friendship among the gang, but the heavy workload comes with family troubles, disloyalty and outside enemies. A secret affair begins between one partner and another’s wife, and the hidden surveillance of Polly by her ex-boyfriend causes fear and confusion. With enthusiasm and ingenuity they produce almost anything, from a YouTube channel to the pride parade, and a viral video puts them in the spotlight and brings in more business. The banker, who now owns part of the company, owes a mafia boss who launders money through him; one day the boss pays the gang a visit and frightens everyone. New ex-celebrities join the team.

  3. Projects and fame grow and money pours in, but the gang spends more than it makes. Pressure, stress and arrogance become routine. The affair turns into love, some lose their spouses, and conflicts within the team keep growing. The father of Polly’s ex-boyfriend, a powerful millionaire, turns against the girls’ environmental movement. The IRS shows up and Paulo Quevedo goes to prison, while the group is under FBI surveillance for money laundering without knowing it. One of the members is kidnapped, and Polly leads an environmental protest.

  4. The team fights in court for Paulo’s release and, with no news of the kidnapping, the police get involved. The group reunites to regain control of the company and break free from its creditors. The affair is discovered, and Polly, Linda and Nancy take over the company’s operations while the media turns on them. Then the biggest opportunity arrives: a never-before-seen massive social event. When failure seems inevitable, the pieces start to fall into place, but the mafia wants a cut, the FBI closes in, and the father of Polly’s ex wants revenge. The gang is reunited and focused, unaware of the clash about to happen…
